ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM 2021
Myra Meikle Residency for Women Writers - Directors
Twin Masks Performing Arts Center (TMPAC), a registered 501c3 non-profit community theatre, located in Twinsburg, Ohio, founded by Claudia Lillibridge, opened in 2017 and produced three full length shows its inaugural season beginning in May 2018. TMPAC began producing shows year round in 2019. As part of its five year business plan, we are now offering the Myra Meikle Residency for Women Writers - Directors for the year 2021.
The Myra Meikle Residency for Women Writer-Directors focuses on the development of a new work by an emerging female identified writer-director, culminating in a writing residency and in-progress showing at the end of the TMPAC regular season, in December 2021.
The Myra Meikle Residency for Women Writer-Directors is designed exclusively for women-identified artists who both write and direct their own work. It is not intended for a director who would like to write a play, or for a writer who has never directed, but rather for someone who identifies a place in both disciplines as a theatre artist. It is named in honor of the mother of TMPAC’s founder’s mother, who encouraged Claudia to challenge herself artistically and supported Claudia’s dream of a life in theatre.
The residency includes:
REHEARSAL SPACE – Unlimited time in Twin Masks space for writing beginning January 1, 2021 during normal business hours (8am – 5pm) and unlimited rehearsal space for rehearsing the in-progress work after opening weekend of TMPAC’s final show of the season (typically first weekend in November).
RESIDENCY STIPEND – A stipend for the developmental expenses of the residency will be rewarded. Amounts, which will be based upon the needs of the project proposal, will range from $3,500 - $10,000 for the year long residency. Applicants will be notified of the amount of the stipend before committing to the residency.
MENTORSHIP – The artist will receive, when needed, periodic mentorship from Claudia Lillibridge, founder of TMPAC, as well as other members of the TMPAC Board, if/ when requested.
WORK-IN-PROGRESS SHOWING – The work will receive an in-progress showing at TMPAC the first weekend in December 2021.
